Your locally owned neighbourhood diner
The Pig Station is Invercargill’s pig-and-trains themed café and grill. Big breakfasts, burgers and proper mugs of coffee, seven days a week, dine in or takeaway.
The food
Says it right on the awning. Everything cooked on site, priced fairly, and served with the kind of welcome that makes first-timers feel like regulars.

The full works: sausages, bacon, eggs, beans, toast and the extras that make a proper cooked breakfast. Hot cakes for the sweet side of the table.

Bacon butties, stacked cheeseburgers and the house favourites, like the Orupuki burger regulars keep coming back for.

Proper espresso served in mugs, no thimbles here, and a hot chocolate one reviewer called the best they'd ever had.

Eat in among the trains and pigs, or phone or text your order through and grab it on the run. Allergies and diets happily accommodated.
Phone or text your order through and it’ll be ready when you pull up.
The diner
The name is a double act: pigs and railway stations. Model trains on the shelves, a brass pig by the door, HOGTASTIC on the chalkboard, and a letterboard that reads DON’T GO BACON MY HEART. Visitors keep spotting new details on their second visit.
It’s bigger inside than it looks, clean and bright, and happy to work around allergies and diets.
“Great coffee with fancy decorations and great attention to detail. You can find little references everywhere. It's almost as if you were a regular, even though I was here for the first time as a tourist.”

“Great coffee with fancy decorations and great attention to detail. You can find little references everywhere. You are greeted very warmly when you enter. It's almost as if you were a regular, even though I was here for the first time as a tourist. The coffee is excellent and the prices are absolutely reasonable. I'll definitely be back when I'm in IVC!”
“We visited today and it was so busy which is always great to see! , the young lady behind the coffee machine handled the guests extremely well especially with the amount of orders she was getting, our lattes arrived hot and even with a cute wee heart , our food came out a little later then normal but as to be expected, it was served with a smile regardless and tasted even better! Great job to kitchen staff and front of house! Will be back!”
“As soon as I walked in. It's soo presentable. Clean and bright. Gentlemen was very polite , service great. Table great only a few minutes we had to wait for food. Food amazing. Best hot chocolate ever. I had the orupuki burger. And the lady had hot cakes. Amazing food ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️”
“We were in Invercargill for four days. Came to the station twice. The staff are as energetic as bells, with masculine enthusiasm and unique style. There is no size choice for coffee, only mugs. The grilled pork skewers are very fragrant. The burgers are pretty good too. My son loves the pork skewers here so much.”
“Absolutely love this diner/cafe!! Amazing food and hot drinks! The shop is a lot bigger inside than it looks from the outside too! Very accommodating for allergies/certain diets etc too!!”
